Last Minute Panic EP:

Released Oct 28th 2017 on Honolulu Records.

"Even in Thunderblender's most intense improvisational flights there's an abiding sense of the three musicians locked on the same intuitive wavelength, whereby freedom and control are but two sides of the same coin. Gutsy yet melodic, rhythmically complex yet grooving, there's plenty to admire in this fine debut." - Ian Patterson, All About Jazz

Awarded the "Toots Thielemans Award", Thunderblender is a Brussels based jazz/improv trio led by Sam Comerford. It combines adventurous free improvisation, beautiful moments and heavy grooves, tied together in long-form compositions inspired by artists like Tim Berne and Henry Threadgill. It features three of the most exciting young musicians on the European scene. After playing at the Concours Tremplin d'Avignon 2017, Sam was awarded the prize for best instrumentalist.

Sam Comerford (IE) - tenor and bass saxophone, compositions

Sam plays tenor and bass sax in groups such as Aerie, Umbra, Insufficient Funs, ODIL, Eve Beuvens' Heptatomic and the Warm Bad. He represented Ireland for two years in the European Saxophone Ensemble, and twice at the 12 Points Festival.

Hendrik Lasure (BE) - piano

At 20 years old, Hendrik has drawn critical acclaim as one of the most exciting pianists of his generation. He plays piano and synthesiser in the award winning duo SCHNTZL, who released their debut album on De Werf records in 2016.

Jens Bouttery (BE) - drums, bass synth

One of the most in demand drummers in and out of Belgium, Jens plays in groups ranging from jazz and pop to experimental theatre, such as Jens Maurits Orchestra, Les Chroniques de l'Inutile, Geroezemoes, Llop and Jef Neve's "Spirit Control". Co-founder of new Brussels label ~suite.
